Origin Story

Our Spicy Butter Chicken layers tangy tomato, spices, sweet onion, and fragrant ginger with a punch of chilli to create a delicious, spicier version of our Classic Butter Chicken curry.  Butter Chicken is one of India’s beloved curries and is believed that it was originally invented in bustling Delhi in North India. Restaurant versions combine smoky, moist tandoori chicken, stirred into a mildly spiced, creamy tomato curry, and finished off with a generous knob of creamy butter. Our Spicy Butter Chicken is inspired by classic Indian restaurant versions, but with an extra hit of chilli for those who like it spicy.

Product Information

Cut your chosen protein or vegetables into generous pieces.

  1. Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a small pan, add spices and cook for 20 seconds.
  2. Add the protein or vegetables and brown lightly (if using fish or seafood, hold back and add this along with the main sauce in step 3). Add the base sauce. Simmer for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Stir in the main sauce and simmer for another 3-5 minutes, or until the protein or veg is cooked through.

Serves 2-3 with naans, rice or parathas.

As appliances may vary, these are guidelines only.

If you don’t like whole spices, grind these in a pestle and mortar and add them with the main sauce in step 3 (before final simmer). Alternatively, if left whole, remove them with a spoon before serving.
